Kuuyang Maar is the name of a short documentary that I made for the Aboriginal Gambling Working Party in south west Victoria.

In May, I was invited out to Framlingham Aboriginal Mission in south west Victoria, to document a fishing competition that was organised by the Aboriginal Gambling Working Party.

The fishing competition was held as a Responsible Gambling Week event and the idea was to get the mob together to do something socially and culturally significant and to create awareness around the negative impacts of gambling.

In the documentary, traditional custodians of the country of south west Victoria, shared their childhood stories of fishing along the Hopkins River and the cultural significance of the eel.

The documentary has the theme that good health is achieved through connection to community.

The film was screened at NAIDOC Celebrations at south west Healthcare in Warrnambool.
