First Ladies is feeling quite privileged to be documenting the introduction of the I Can Network into the Warrnambool community and its development. A big chunk of the I Can Network’s function is the implementation of a mentoring program for teenagers on the Autism Spectrum.

So we’ve been following the journey of a group of young people who have met fortnightly over the past year (2016) to take part in the I Can mentoring program. It’s amazing to see what a change it has made in participants’ level of confidence, their sense of worth and their feelings about being on the spectrum. We are in the process of creating a video on inspirational story of the I Can (South West Victoria) Network. But for now, here a couple of snapshots from the project along the way. It is their aim to bring the mentoring program to all schools in the region, so that all young people on the spectrum can benefit from the program.
