Case Study: Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles

In 2017 the Corangamite CMA partnered with the state surfing body, Surfing Victoria, to strengthen coastal community and environment connections through the Coastal Country program.

The Surfing Titles for the Junior Division were held at Bells Beach, with a formal ceremony followed by surfing from some of the best junior competitors from across the country. Surfers and representatives from Surfing Victoria made appearances on video to celebrate the occasion.

Case Study:
Walk to School Program

In 2017, more than 1500 kids across Corangamite Shire took part in the VicHealth Walk to School program in October.

Walking, riding or scooting to and from school is a great way for kids to work towards the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity, every day of the year. Plus, kids who are active are more likely to develop healthy habits that lead to lifelong health benefits. Part way is okay! If you can’t walk the whole way, try parking the car a few blocks from your school and walk, ride or scoot the rest of the way, or walk or ride to the bus stop!
